Phoenix1 is a North American team.

History

Phoenix1 was announced on May 23rd, 2016, as the team inheriting the NA LCS Summer Season seed previously belonging to Team Impulse.[1] On May 26th, their starting roster was announced and included zig, Brandini, Inori, Slooshi, Pirean, Mash, and Gate, with zig and Brandini sharing the top lane, and Slooshi and Pirean sharing the mid lane.[2]

2016 Summer Season

Phoenix 1 failed to pick up traction as a team finishing the season 5-13 ranked 8th place. They managed to break even in head to head series 1-1 with Echo Fox, NRG, Apex, EnVyUs, and even TSM. However, they were 2-0'd by the likes of C9,CLG, and Team Liquid. This placed Phoenix 1 into a bad position (going 15-31), forcing them to battle for their spot in the 2017 Spring Promotion tournament.

In the promotion mathces. Phoenix 1 surged in the 2017 Spring Promotion tournament with stellar play from Inori's 30px Rek'sai and  Elise in the jungle and domination from Mash's  Jhin and  Sivir sweeping Echo Fox 3-0 to secure their spot in the 2017 Spring Split.

2017 Spring Season

Starting the season fresh with the departure of Brandini,Gate,Mash, and Slooshi during the "rosterpocalypse". They acquired a highly talented and experienced group in the likes of Ryu in Mid, Arrow as ADC, Adrian for their Support.[2]

P1's new team showed signs of flashes chemistry through the Spring Season, but suffered set backs at the hands of TSM in week 3 & 9, CLG in weeks 4 & 6, Split with FlyQuest,Dignitas, and the impressive win vs Cloud 9 in week 5. After going 5-1 through weeks 6-8, Phoenix 1 dropped its finally two games to ranks 1 & 2 seed in TSM and Cloud 9 placing them in 3rd in the standings with a overall record of 11-7.

In the quarterfinals of the Spring Playoffs, they matched up with Team Dignitas; whom they swept without remorse. Unfortunately, they met up with Cloud 9 in the semi's. Not being able to handle the superior macro and map control, P1 went down without winning a single match. Phoenix 1's 3rd place finish was a close one. FlyQuest already having completed a reverse sweep on CLG almost did it again. Due to some solid macro, and poor decisions by FlyQuest, Phoenix 1 was able to closed out game 5 and place third in the playoffs.

Few weeks into the 2017 Summer Season, the team made roster adjustments by acquiring Xpecial from Team Dignitas and MikeYeung. Immediately the new rookie made an impression on the fans and analysts with his impressive mechanical skill. Eventually MikeYeung went on to win the Rookie of the Split award. Individual skills aside though, the team performed much worst than they did in the spring season. Although the team made some impressive plays at the Rift Rivals/Blue Rift, they weren't able to translate that success to help raise their rank placement for the rest of the summer season and placed dead last in the the league with a 4-14 record. This was a hard blow for the organization: not only are they forced to play the 2018 NA LCS Spring Promotion, but more importantly they are unable to participate in the 2017 North America Regional, despite placing third in the 2017 NALCS Spring Playoffs.

At the 2018 NA LCS Spring Promotion, Phoenix1 first faced off against Gold Coin United and narrowly beat them in 2:3 fashion to advance to the next round. In the second round, they lost to Team Liquid in a close 2:3 match. Fortunately, they were able to beat eUnited 3:0 to retain their spot in the 2018 NALCS Spring Season.
