"GBM" (Real Name: Lee Chang-seok) is a Korean League of Legends player, current Mid Laner for Royal Youth.

Career History

2013

In High School, he excelled in mathematics and enjoyed playing video games. As a result of these two talents, he decided that he would aim to become a professional gamer. He was picked up by CJ Entus Frost in June of 2013 after displaying brilliant play on Orianna mid lane. At the HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013, CJ Entus Frost finished 4th, falling 2:3 to MVP Ozone.

2014

Soon after, GBM joined the Jin Air Green Wings Falcons and the Falcons attended the HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014. The team performed poorly and got knocked out in group stages without getting a single win. They attended the HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014 and despite a better performance, still got knocked out in groups. After this, GBM left the team.

2015

He rejoined the organization after OGN's rules forced the Jin Air Green Wings Falcons to merge with the Jin Air Green Wings Stealths into a single team. In the 2015 LCK Spring Split, Jin Air finished with a record of 7-7, securing their spot in the playoffs. Their playoff run was short-lived however, as they lost in the first round to CJ Entus, finishing 4th. Jin Air ended up in 6th place during the 2015 LCK Summer Split and didn't qualify for playoffs. They attended the 2015 LCK Regional Finals and knocked out NaJin e-mFire and CJ Entus before falling 1:3 to KT Rolster in the finals, failing to qualify for the 2015 World Championship.

2016

During the 2016 Preseason, GBM left Jin Air and went to North American to join the newly formed NRG Esports. NRG had a rough and inconsistent spring split however, finishing 5th in the regular season with a 9-9 record. In the playoffs, they were eliminated in their first match against Team Liquid. In Summer, GBM and team finished 9th with a 4W-14L record. They went through the Promotion Tournament but failed to secure a spot for 2017 NA LCS Spring Split as they lost against Echo Fox (0-3).

2017

After a season in the NA LCS, GBM went back to Korea following the disbandment of NRG. On January 5th, Vitality announced that GBM is joining the team as a Substitute Jungler for the 2017 EU LCS Spring Split. However, in Week 4 of the tournament, he debuted as a Mid Laner for the team instead in their match against Fnatic.

Trivia

  • After falling to 1100 elo in Season 2 he decided to start a totally new account and become the best at one champion. He saw Ambition play  Orianna and decided to play her. He played her exclusively from level 1 to 30 and then again until he was 2100 elo.[1]
  • Came up with his name after repeatedly being caught playing by his mother in the middle of the night. In Korea this is known as 'um-ke' literally meaning 'mom critical', after realising this idea might not be communicated well to a western audience he changed it to the now famous 'Ganked By Mom'.[2]
  • His high skill and game making plays on  Orianna have caused many fans to dub him the 'Orianna Master'.
  • Is close friends with his team counter-part RapidStar. He believes that having two mid laners on a team does not put pressure on each other but instead allows them to learn more and get even better.[3]
  • Widely regarded as one of the best  Orianna players in the world.
  • Is an avid fan of Doctor Who and wears bowties onstage in the manner of the Eleventh Doctor (portrayed by Matt Smith.)
  • Became known for his  Zilean play upon picking it in an NA LCS game on NRG against Team SoloMid and shutting them out.
