Echo Fox is a North American esports organization. It was announced on December 18th, 2015, after former basketball athlete Rick Fox purchased Gravity's NA LCS Spring 2016 seed. No players were announced at the time.[1] The price of the sale was not announced officially, but it was reportedly a $1 million deal.

History

2016

Prior to the start of the season, the team announced announced that Korean soloqueue star top laner kfo, European veteran Froggen, Keith, Baby (who renamed to BIG), and Hard would be the starting line up, with European mid laner Kori (who renamed back to Selfie) as a substitute for Froggen.

However right off the bat, the team was off to a bad start. For the first few weeks of the spring season, the team had to play with a substitute roster consisting largely of players from the Challenger team Ember due to visa problems that kept Hard, kfo, and Froggen out of competition. The team was even forced to forfeit a match due a missing fifth player on match day. Additionally, the varying level of professional experience amongst players meant that newer players had to rely on Froggen's in game leadership for shotcalling. Overtime, as the team developed better synergy, Echo Fox placed seventh at the end of the spring split - out of playoffs but also safe from relegation. Their overall season record was 6-12, with 6 of those losses coming from their games with a substitute roster as well as a forfeit prior to determining their substitute roster. With their full lineup, their record was 6-6.

Coming into the summer split, the team did not make any roster change. However, the team performed worse as they finished last in the league and were forced to play the 2017 NALCS Spring Season Promotion. That said, the team's performance throughout the season isn't without highlight. The most notable being they were the first team to secure the first win against Team Solomid (they still lost 1-2 in that match).

During the promotion match, they were fortunate enough to retain their spot for the 2017 season by defeating NRG Esports 3-0.

2017

Prior to the 2017 Season, the team made significant roster change by bringing Looper onboard as their starting top laner. They also brought onboard Akaadian, a rising NA talent to play the jungle position, and Gate from Phoenix1.

Throughout the 2017 spring split, the team's performance was inconsistent, though there were some memorable moments of highlight performances from Looper and Akaadian who at one point was regarded as a contending runner for the Rookie of the Split. At the end of the season, they placed 8th in the league to retain their spot in the 2017 summer season.

In the 2017 summer season, there was some anticipation for the team to perform better, given that they've had some time ironing out team synergy and made no roster changes. Unfortunately, the team didn't improve much. In fact, the team's inconsistent performance forced the organization to bring on more substitutes and towards the end of the split, the team was always trying out different roster combinations. They end their 2017 season run in 8th again to retain their spot for the 2018 season.
