"Ambition" (Real Name: Kang Chan-yong (강찬용)) is a Korean League of Legends player, formerly the Jungler for Gen.G.

Biography

Ambition's family got their first computer when he was 9 starting his gaming life. He played Starcraft for 10 years. He could only play 1-2 hours a day because of his strict parents, but he always tried to get better when he could play. He quit Starcraft to start playing League of Legends. [1]

Career History

Ambition has a long history of competitive career starting back in 2011. He first joined MiG Blaze, which eventually became Azubu Blaze then CJ Entus Blaze. In 2014, in compliance with the new rules set by LCK, CJ Blaze and CJ Frost merged to form CJ Entus. Ambition continued to play for the team for the entirety of 2014 Season before parting ways with the organization to join Samsung Galaxy in 2015.

2016

Ambition became the starting Jungler for Samsung Galaxy in 2016. They finished 6th in Spring regular split but in Summer, the team managed to make it to 4th place. They proceeded to the playoffs but lost to KT Rolster in the 2nd round of the gauntlet. But since the team has earned enough Championship Points over Spring and Summer, they made it to the Korea Regional Finals 2016 where they beat Afreeca Freecs in 2nd round and KT Rolster in the Finals, thus qualifying for the World Championship.

At Worlds, Ambition and team made it to the knockout stage after coming out as #1 seed from their group. They ended their Worlds run at 2nd place, beating Cloud9 in the Quarterfinals and H2k-Gaming in the Semifinals, but losing to SK Telecom T1 in the Finals. He also finished 5th-8th in the KeSPA Cup alongside his team, and 1st in IEM 11 Gyeonggi, which qualified them for IEM 11 World Championship.

For LCK Spring, Ambition will continue to play with Samsung together with his teammates from the 2016 Season, with the addition of Haru as his Sub.

Trivia

  • As a result of his consistent performance, he was selected as the mid-laner for the Korean team at All-Star Shanghai 2013 which his team won.
  • Considered the most consistent Mid-laner in all of Korea.
  • In March 2012, his favorite champions were Soraka and Cassiopeia.[2]
  • Famous for his brusque face and scary-looking smile, which made him a distorted character of "swinging the bat toward his team mates when he feels anger". This is also due to his resemblance to Korean murderer Ho Sung Lee (이호성), who was once a famous baseball player.
  • He thinks the performance of Mid-laners in Korea are still underestimated, compared to that of other regions. [3]
  • Was once ranked second on NA solo queue.
  • After the finals of OGN Spring 2013 he fell into a slump during the Summer season but the recent Winter season in 2013 - 2014 is regarded as his break through season.
  • Was a part of MiG Blaze when they won the first ever OGN season.
