In a world far away where an ancient war still rages, Kayle was a great hero - the strongest of an immortal race committed to destroying evil wherever it could be found. For ten thousand years, Kayle fought tirelessly for her people, wielding her flaming sword forged before time itself. She shielded her delicate features beneath her enchanted armor, the sole remaining masterpiece of an extinct race of craftsmen. Though a beautiful, striking creature, Kayle, now as then, avoids showing her face; war has taken a terrible toll upon her spirit. In her quest for victory, she sometimes would try to lift the wicked up from their morass of evil, but more than often she instead purged those she herself deemed beyond redemption. To Kayle, justice can so often be an ugly thing.
Ten years ago, Kayle's war against evil was nearly won... until her rebellious sister Morgana, a pariah amongst their people, suddenly gained powerful new allies: magicians of a hitherto unknown world called Runeterra. Morgana traded servitude to a number of the summoners in Runeterra's League of Legends for powerful new abilities that, if mastered, threatened to bring Kayle and her people to their knees. To save her world, Kayle had no choice but to make a pact with the League herself. She approached the leader of the League, High Counselor Reginald Ashram, with a deal of her own. In exchange for a thousand years of Kayle's service, Ashram halted all League interference on Kayle's world. With Ashram's disappearance five years ago, Kayle has new causes on Valoran: find out who or what caused Ashram to disappear, defeat her sister Morgana upon the Fields of Justice, and bring her own brand of justice to the League of Legends.
"In the League of Legends, Justice comes on swift wings."
(Innate) Kayle's autoattacks against enemy champions reduces their armor and magic resistance by 3% for 5 seconds. This debuff stacks up to 5 times.
(Active) Blasts a target, dealing magic damage and slowing its movement speed for 3 seconds.
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Missile Speed: 1,500
Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana
Magic Damage: 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+60% of Ability Power) (+100% of bonus Attack Damage)
Slow: 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55%
(Active) Blesses a target allied champion, healing them and increasing their movement speed for 3 seconds.
While Kayle's changes in 5.13 were to help her laning and ability to jungle, the introduction of Sated Devourer in the same patch had the effect of cranking Kayle's already-great clear speed all the way up to 11, thanks to the extra chunk of damage she gets between casts of Righteous Fury. We don't want to disproportionately hit solo lane Kayle, so we're taking off… 5 AD.
BASE ATTACK DAMAGE : 56⇒ 51
v5.13 E passively gives half of the active's magic damage on basic attacks. E's AP ratio slightly increased.
"Before we dive in to the specifics, it's important to get a better understanding of how Kayle fits in the grand scheme of things. Those that remember her as a power pick in professional play might see Kayle changes as a bit of a head-scratcher, but when talking about her it's important to ask a simple question: What does the metagame look like?
For Kayle, her ability to change the game with a well-timed Intervention means that despite her other strengths, she thrives best in an environment rife with burst and high-damage pick-focused compositions intent on knocking her allies from 100% to dead in a few seconds. This means that as one of our more meta-dependent champions, when fights are drawn out and taking place at longer ranges her stock falls considerably.
Having said that, what does that mean for her this patch? While Kayle isn't 'in-season' right now, her early-to-mid transition is a tougher than we'd like even if she were. A light touch to her laning (where she's most constrained by E's cooldown) should spread her wings against compositions where she's intended to succeed. TL;DR: Kayle's not great right now. And that's okay! But we'd like to make playing Kayle feel better. So we are. Boom, context."
E- Righteous Fury
[NEW]HERS IS THE FURY : Passively, Kayle's basic attacks deal 10/15/20/25/30 (+0.15 ability power) magic damage on hit
"We're continuing our comprehensive pass at the game's older character textures. As with previous installments, our goal is to improve parity with newer releases and make sure everybody looks at home on the Rift. "
Kayle gets less attack speed per level and her E scales less with ability power. Intervention's cooldown has been increased.
"Kayle has a ton of strengths - good damage, safe laning, high utility, great wave clear, fancy wings - and not too many weaknesses. Initially we wanted to only hit Kayle's high offensive power so we could continue to emphasize her utility, but saw it just wasn't enough to reduce her fervor in a meaningful way. All of these changes, combined, should help in clipping some of Kayle's high power across the board."
ATTACK SPEED PER LEVEL: +2.5 ⇒ +2.2
- E - Righteous Fury
BONUS ABILITY POWER RATIO: +0.4 ability power ⇒ +0.2 ability power
v4.2 We lowered Reckoning’s AP ratio while raising the AP ratio of Divine Blessing’s heal. We also added an AP ratio to Divine Blessing’s movement speed bonus and removed Intervention’s mana cost.
Once she gets ahead, Kayle's burst damage can be overwhelming to play against. While we're taking away some of Kayle's up-front burst, the utility scaling on Divine Blessing should help her and her team get INTO (and out of) THE FRAY.
Q - Reckoning
ABILITY POWER RATIO :: 1.0 ⇒ 0.6
W - Divine Blessing
HEAL/ABILITY POWER RATIO :: 0.35 ⇒ 0.45
MOVEMENT SPEED BONUS :: now scales with ability power (+7% per 100 ability power)
v3.05 Balance Patch
Previous to these changes, Kayle's support spells could often be cast completely off-screen from her opponents. With these reduced ranges, it should be easier for opponents to anticipate her presence in fights.
Holy Fervor (Passive) - Kayle and nearby allied champions attack 10% faster. If an allied champion dies while under the effects of Holy Fervor, Kayle's attack speed is further increased as she attempts to avenge them
Reckoning - Strikes a target dealing damage and slowing its movement speed and attack speed for 4 seconds
The movement speed reduction is now 20-30%, down from 20-40%
Removed the stun and double damage component after an ally dies
Divine Blessing - Blesses a target allied champion, healing them and increasing their movement speed for 20 seconds
Changed the heal over time to a direct heal
Righteous Fury Ignites Kayle's sword with a holy flame, granting Kayle a ranged splash attack.
Removed the bonus damage, and lowered the duration of the spell
Intervention (Ultimate) - Bathes Kayle's target in a holy light, rendering them immune to all damage for 4 seconds
The cooldown was increased, but it can now be cast upon allies
